For the third time in a row, the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna is presenting a Christian Thielemann cycle. It extends into the year 2025, rounding off a quarter of a century of interpretation history that links Christian Thielemann, Vienna and the Musikverein.

Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla
Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla attracted international attention in 2016 with her great success as chief conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Since then, the versatile Lithuanian has been a guest in the world’s most important concert halls. In 2024/25, she is the artist in focus at the Musikverein and makes her debut as a concert conductor with the Vienna Philharmonic.

Four orchestras in six concerts: Klaus Mäkelä brings all his orchestras from Oslo, Paris and Amsterdam to the Musikverein. He also makes his debut conducting the Vienna Philharmonic in the Großer Musikvereinssaal.

With Janine Jansen, the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna is focusing on one of today’s best and most extraordinary violinists: in 2024/25, the Dutch violinist will perform as a soloist with orchestra, with a recital and a chamber music program at the Musikverein.
